WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)-CNN has declared President Donald Trump—now serving his second term—as the “most influential president of this century,” citing sweeping and historic changes on trade, immigration, and executive authority.

“Trump is remaking the United States of America,” one CNN analyst said. “Love it, like it, or lump it—he has been tremendously influential to a historic degree.”
The segment highlighted the massive spike in tariffs under Trump’s leadership, noting that the effective tariff rate has soared to 18%—the highest level since the 1930s, and a staggering jump from just 2% in 2024. “No TACO for Trump,” the analyst quipped, referring to the administration’s unapologetically hardline trade agenda.
Immigration, another cornerstone of Trump’s agenda, has seen a dramatic shift. Net migration is projected to drop by 60% this year, with 2025 potentially marking the first time in 50 years that the U.S. experiences negative net migration. “We’re talking about a drop from 2.8 million in 2024,” CNN noted.
The pace of executive orders has also exploded, with Trump signing 180 so far this year—surpassing any president since FDR. By contrast, President Joe Biden signed just 77 in his first full year.
While the policies remain deeply polarizing, CNN analysts conceded that Trump’s influence is unmatched.
“I can’t think of a more influential president during this century,” the segment concluded. “And it starts here with tariffs.”
Interesting spin in using words like “admit” or “concede” as they imply a reluctance.
One does not have to agree or like Trump to say that he is influential and is going to go down in history as one of the most impactful presidents.
