WASHINGTON DC (VINnews)— Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is urging President Donald Trump to commute the sentence of former Republican Congressman George Santos, who is currently serving a seven-year federal prison term for wire fraud and identity theft.

In a statement released Monday, Greene called the punishment “an abusive overreach by the judicial system” and accused the courts of targeting Santos unfairly.
“Many of my colleagues who I serve with have committed far worse offenses than Mr. Santos, yet have faced zero criminal charges,” she said.
Santos, who represented parts of Long Island and Queens, pleaded guilty earlier this year after a high-profile scandal involving fabricated biographical claims and financial misconduct. Greene, however, says the former congressman “has taken responsibility” and “shown remorse.”
“It’s time to correct this injustice,” she said.
