Heinrich pushed back on international criticism that Israel never gave a Palestinian state a chance. “To say that Israel didn’t try a ‘Palestinian state’ is like saying that ‘real communism was never tried,’” she said. “October 7 happened because the Palestinians in Gaza had their own terror state.”

The Hamas-led regime in Gaza, she argued, used its autonomy not to build a peaceful society, but to arm itself for war, entrench terror infrastructure, and promote hate.

As for what a post-war Gaza might look like, Heinrich stressed that Israel cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past. “Whatever comes next must ensure that Gaza can never again be used as a launchpad for terror.”

While the international community debates reconstruction and governance options, Heinrich made clear: lasting peace will only come when terrorism is fully dismantled and Palestinian leadership is held accountable.
