MADRID – Jewish passengers aboard Iberia flight IB0102 from Buenos Aires to Madrid were shocked to find handwritten “Free Palestine” and “FP” slogans on their kosher meal trays. Argentina’s top Jewish organization, DAIA, called it a “serious act of antisemitism” and is demanding a full investigation from the airline.

Passenger Salvador Auday confirmed to Enfoque Judío that multiple kosher trays had identical markings. Iberia’s crew apologized mid-flight, and even the captain reportedly left the cockpit to personally address the complaint.
Auday suspects the markings may have come from a third-party catering provider, not airline staff, but emphasized the need for accountability. “We can’t normalize antisemitism,” he said. The incident follows a separate controversy involving Vueling, part of Iberia’s parent group, which recently removed 52 French Jewish teens from a flight after one sang in Hebrew.

Why do we continue to spend money there? Why are we not in practice, reinstating the CHEREM Rabbeinu Gershom placed on Spain by boycotting it totally? Why are so many of our community still vacationing there? Why are we buying its merchandise?

very interesting. the kosher meals are prepared by a kosher caterer, who is unlikely to have anti-semites working for them. so it was either done by the ground crew who loaded the meals, in which case the flight attendants heating the meals should have noticed it, or by one or more of the flight attendants themselves. either way, the airline should be firing someone for tampering with passengers’ meals, or explaining why not.
