NEW YORK – WhatsApp is introducing a new safety feature aimed at protecting users from being added to suspicious group chats by unknown contacts—a tactic increasingly used for spam, scams, and phishing attempts.

The update includes a “safety screen” that activates whenever a user is added to a group by someone not in their contact list. The screen displays the group name, who added the user, and a warning that the invite came from an unfamiliar source.
Key protections include:
Muted notifications until the user decides to stay or leave
No personal info shared unless the user chooses to participate
Option to exit immediately without viewing any messages
WhatsApp says this tool enhances its automated systems, which already flag millions of suspicious accounts each month, and helps prevent common scams like fake investment schemes, lottery wins, and donation fraud.
The feature will be rolled out globally to Android and iPhone users in the coming weeks. WhatsApp encourages users to update the app to access the new protections.

Most of these scams invite many people at the same time, and set up fake people who are joining one after the other. They want you to get the idea that this is something interesting etc. While most of these scams are for bitcoin, investments, etc. this new feature is a welcome Tznius addition.
Any way of stopping that “EZ-Pass violation” scam thats been going on lately?
