NEW YORK – Moshe Labi, a 94-year-old retired and well-known Jewish doctor and author, was randomly punched by a man described as “deranged” while leaving an Apple store on Madison Avenue Tuesday evening. The attack occurred after the suspect had caused disturbances inside the store. Labi was struck in the jaw and the assailant fled north on Madison Avenue.

Labi, who fought in Israel’s Independence War and later gained recognition as a physician in New York, recently published a memoir “Benghazi, Tel Aviv, New York: A Journey from Adversity to Success.” recounting his life journey. He said he was shaken but physically unharmed. Police describe the suspect as a tall, slim man with a dark complexion.
Labi expressed concern that such violence could happen again and called for better support for individuals exhibiting dangerous behavior in the city.
