MONTREAL – A Jewish father suffered a broken nose after being savagely beaten in front of his three young children at Beaumont–De l’Épée Park in Montreal’s Park Extension neighborhood, as reported on VIN News on Friday.

The 32-year-old victim was at the park Friday afternoon when he encountered what he described as a “disturbed” man. Video shows the attacker punching him repeatedly as he lay on the ground near a splash pad, while one of his children clung to his arm crying. The assailant then tossed the victim’s kippah into the water before walking away.

Community activist Mayer Feig said the victim was treated in hospital and has since returned home but remains deeply shaken. Montreal police have launched an investigation, with hate-crimes investigators already interviewing the victim. No arrests have been made.
Prime Minister Mark Carney called the attack “an appalling act of violence.” Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante described it as “violent and unacceptable,” and Quebec’s anti-racism minister Christopher Skeete said he was “deeply disturbed” by the footage. The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs demanded the attacker be brought to justice and warned of a dangerous escalation in antisemitic violence.
Feig said the Jewish community is on edge after years of mounting harassment: “It’s just allowed to happen.”
It is time that Yidden stop being passive, rather than take the beating, learn to fight back, with any tactic you can, eyes, face, genitals, inflict pain on your attacker. A pen, keys, book all are weapons that can be used against an attacker. A well placed strike to the attackers throat with a book can crush the windpipe and instantly disable the attacker. A pen to the eye will do it or a hard flat hand slap to the ear can rupture an ear drum and cause debilitating pain. Every Shul should have self defense classes. BE PREPARED.
