FORT LAUDERDALE — Rachel Aliza Nisanov, daughter of respected Queens rabbi Shlomo Nisanov, was tragically killed Tuesday afternoon in a jetski accident on the Intracoastal Waterway. Her sister, 16 year old Aviva Bracha Nisanov, remains in critical condition.

The accident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. near the 2800 block of Northeast 24th Court when the two sisters were riding together on a personal watercraft that struck a dock. Both sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center.
Rachel Aliza, 13, succumbed to her injuries, while Aviva Bracha continues to fight for her life.
The sisters are students at Bnos Malka in Queens.
Rabbi Nisanov and his wife Rebbetzin Ora are well respected in the Queens Jewish community and widely known for their charitable organizations dedicated to helping those in need.
Authorities including Fort Lauderdale Police and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The family has requested privacy as they mourn the devastating loss and hope for Aviva Bracha’s recovery.
