WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)— Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner said this week that his focus is on helping families in public housing achieve independence rather than fostering long-term reliance on government aid.

Turner, who has visited public housing communities across the country, said he has seen firsthand how years of dependence on federal programs can impact families.
“Unlike some reporters, I’ve met the people living in public housing and witnessed what dependence on government can do,” Turner said. “Our mission is to grow people, not government. We want to help able-bodied, able-minded individuals build a life of self-sustainability.”
Turner has emphasized expanding programs that encourage job training, financial literacy, and pathways to homeownership, arguing that federal housing policy should be designed to lift families out of poverty rather than keep them tied to it.

When multi-millionaires preach, I just tzitter. Ask him for a job and his answer will be he’s NOT HIRING.
So well said, so powerful! Help people help themselves!
