BARCELONA (VINnews)-Swedish activist Greta Thunberg has launched her third voyage toward Gaza, joining a flotilla she says is meant to show “solidarity” with Palestinians but which critics dismiss as little more than moral theater.

The 22-year-old climate campaigner, who rose to global fame scolding world leaders over carbon emissions, has now turned her attention to the Middle East, once again setting off on what detractors describe as a “moral narcissist cruise.”
Israel has repeatedly intercepted similar activist flotillas, escorting passengers to port before promptly sending them home. In the past, activists were treated to food and accommodations while in custody — prompting some commentators to joke that Thunberg may simply be nostalgic for the kosher turkey sandwiches on challah reportedly provided by the IDF.
Organizers have not revealed how many ships or activists are part of this latest attempt, though past efforts have all failed to reach Gaza. Israeli officials dismiss the voyages as stunts that ignore Hamas’ rule of the territory.

Maybe it’s time for Greta to be allowed into Gaza with the proviso that she has to stay there.

This time Israel should throw her and her friends in one of their strictest prisons. She should serve at least a year and be deported afterwards to Gaza.
