NEW YORK – Amazon Prime is ending its Invitee Program, which let members share Prime’s free shipping with people outside their household. The program will shut down on October 1, 2025, Amazon confirmed.

After that date, anyone who wants Prime’s fast, free delivery but doesn’t live with the account holder will need their own Prime membership. Instead, Amazon will direct members to Amazon Prime Family, which allows benefits to be shared with one other adult, up to four teens, and four children at the same residential address.

The change comes as Amazon looks to boost Prime signups. Reports said U.S. Prime membership growth ahead of this year’s Prime Day was slower than last year, though Amazon said Prime signups hit record levels worldwide during the sales event.
