Protesters, estimated at 1,500 by organizers, held signs in support of the group and sat in the streets. Police made arrests under the Terrorism Act and for public order offenses as some demonstrators resisted removal.

The protest came amid ongoing debates over the group’s ban and its impact on civil liberties in the U.K.
