Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, the Israel Defense Forces chief of staff, visited a lookout point near Qatanna and Qubeiba, the neighboring Judea-Samaria villages where the attackers set out from earlier in the day.

“We are here after a very serious attack. I have ordered a full closure of the area from which the terrorists came out,” Zamir said at the scene, according to remarks released by the IDF.

He said Israeli forces would continue “a determined and ongoing operational and intelligence effort, pursue the terror nests everywhere, and thwart the terror infrastructure and its organizers.”

Israel’s Shin Bet security service identified the terrorists  Mohammad Taha, 21, of Qatanna, and Muthanna Amro, 20, of Qubeiba. The two villages lie just outside Ramallah, west of the Ramot Junction where the shooting occurred.
