JERUSALEM (VINnews)-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the annual ceremony for the Netzach Yehuda preparatory programs and haredi hesder yeshivas on Thursday at the Western Wall tunnels. The programs, operated under the Shomer Yisrael organization, oversee the various haredi service tracks within the IDF.

Addressing the audience, Netanyahu stressed that Torah study remains a central pillar of Jewish life, but emphasized that many young men can successfully combine religious commitment with military service.
“Torah study will continue always, but a large public can also combine study with the military,” Netanyahu said. “Today we have enhanced this with vigorous IDF efforts to enable someone to be inducted ultra-Orthodox and be discharged ultra-Orthodox, to maintain the heritage of Israel while defending Israel. We see that this integration is not only possible, but powerful.”
Netanyahu praised the performance of haredi soldiers, citing the Hasmonean Brigade and the Nahal Haredi battalion for their combat achievements in Gaza and their role in thwarting terror in Jerusalem.
“I have seen the soldiers and the Hasmonean Brigade; I was there. I saw their service in Gaza, where they eliminated dozens of terrorists in exemplary fighting,” he said. “We have also lost dear soldiers; may G-d avenge them.”
The Prime Minister also referenced a recent terrorist attack in Jerusalem, noting that a Hasmonean Brigade soldier prevented an even greater tragedy just days ago.
“There is no contradiction; there is integration—and this integration is powerful,” Netanyahu declared.
Turning to Israel’s regional security challenges, Netanyahu underscored that Israel continues to strike its enemies across multiple fronts.
“Our enemies know that we are lined up against them, like we did yesterday in Yemen,” he said. “We are operating without fear and with great faith in order to ensure the eternity of Israel.”
