According to the report, an armed combat helicopter dispatched to the Nova festival area identified a convoy of pickup trucks carrying terrorists near Be’eri, but didn’t open fire.

The incident took place about three hours after the murderous attack began, at a time when media outlets worldwide were already broadcasting footage of terrorists in pickup trucks deep inside Israeli territory. The helicopter recorded the events and relayed the information in real-time to the Israeli Air Force’s strike command center, but no order to fire was given.

The footage, aired for the first time, raises difficult questions about the decisions made by commanders in real time. “The helicopter saw the terrorists near the Nova festival area but didn’t fire,” the report stated.

It should be noted that the helicopter was dispatched to assist in an area where terrorists were spotted near a tank to which it was assigned, and civilians were located along Route 232. The helicopter crew was unaware of the music festival at that time.

While the helicopter was in the area and unable to locate the tank and civilians, it was urgently redirected to provide fire support at a nearby military outpost where it carried out life-saving strikes.

IDF Spokesperson’s Response:

The claim that the presence of the combat helicopter near the Nova festival on the morning of the attack was concealed or downplayed in IDF investigations is false.

The incident was investigated as part of the broader Nova festival inquiry, and its findings were presented in full and with complete transparency to the bereaved families, families of the hostages, survivors, and subsequently to the public, including showing the helicopter footage to the families and survivors.

The investigation was presented to the Chief of Staff, who confirmed that the helicopter crew acted as required during that incident.

The IDF failed to protect the residents of the Gaza border region on October 7th, during those hours, due to the difficulty in forming a situational picture and not yet being aware of the massacre at Nova.

That morning, complex decisions were made under pressure and with a lack of operational situational awareness, as distinguishing between civilians and terrorists from the air was nearly impossible without precise guidance from the ground.

Absured explanation. The truth there should have been hundreds of helicopters that morning shooting at terrorists. It truly doesn’t make any sense..

Can be many reasons. Likely lefty-derranged chiloni soldiers active on shabbos Shmini Atzeret. You see how frum armed frum men would act last week at Tzomet Ramot. Ultimately it’s HKBH who controls a person’s (lack of) actions & response. Best fix for IDF bases is to create a frum environment of kedusha & BMs where soldiers would WANT to stay on base for yomim noraim holydays rather than requesting to be furloughed.

This is just a counter point to the sand Nazi narrative that there is some urge by us to use Hannibal on our own guys. Obviously the hostage situation could be avoided but the psychological effect on society is maybe not worth it.
