JERUSALEM – Uber has denied Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev’s recent claims that the ride-hailing company would resume operations in Israel in 2026.

A company spokesperson told the press that Uber has not engaged in any discussions about regulatory changes and has no plans to relaunch in the country. Uber exited Israel in June 2023, citing challenging market conditions and limited demand.
Regev had suggested the move could reduce ride costs and accommodate drivers interested in working both as taxi operators and with Uber. The matter is reportedly under review with Israel’s Finance Ministry.
Uber has a predatory businesses model, which ultimately hurts the customer. Plus, Uber model can be easily replicated.
Why does Israel need Uber for, as opposed to the already developed taxi network?
And if Israel somehow needs services provided by Uber, why can’t some local startup create its own taxi and food delivery app?
There are plenty of taxis there, nobody needs uber
No one needs uber but much of the western world uses their services and have accounts with them it’s more for travelers and visitors that are visiting Isreal
We need uber because the taxis and taxi apps in Israel usually try and do scam you
