TEL AVIV (VINnews) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Monday at the Kirya in Tel Aviv with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir to address battlefield challenges and toasting the Jewish New Year with members of the IDF General Staff Forum.

Netanyahu told the forum that Israel is “in the midst of a struggle in which we are overcoming our enemies,” and said the coming year could be “a historic year for the security of Israel.” He called for the destruction of the “Iranian axis,” saying that objective is “within our means.”
“I would like to salute the great effort that you are making, the major successes you have brought, the great sacrifices and heroism of this generation,” Netanyahu said. “Many had eulogized and, in effect, negated its commitment and ability to fight. It has been shown to be a magnificent generation that has made many painful sacrifices.”
Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s determination to achieve its war aims, saying they extend beyond operations in Gaza to include the elimination of Hamas, the return of hostages, and ensuring that Gaza “never again constitutes a threat to Israel.” He added that success will require “unity in moments of crisis, and determination in every moment.”
“May we have a year of security, victory and unity. Happy New Year,” the prime minister concluded.
