The operation, directed by IDF intelligence, targeted the Houthis’ General Staff Command Headquarters, compounds belonging to their security and intelligence apparatus, their military propaganda headquarters, and several military camps where operatives and weapons were identified.
According to the IDF, the strikes were a direct response to repeated Houthi missile and drone attacks against Israel, including the launching of UAVs and surface-to-surface missiles at Israeli territory.
“The IDF will operate against the ongoing and repeated attacks of the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, will conduct additional offensive operations in the near future, and remains determined to remove any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel, at whatever distance is required,” the military said.
The Houthis’ intelligence and security division, which was among the targets hit, has been deeply involved in terrorist operations against Israel and accused of repressing internal opposition through political prisons and torture. Military camps struck by Israel served as weapons depots and command centers for planning attacks.
The IDF emphasized that the Houthis operate under Iranian direction and funding, exploiting the maritime arena to launch terror attacks against Israel and threaten global shipping lanes.
