NEW YORK (VINnews) — Earlier this week, around 25 armed and masked individuals stormed Heller Jewelers, a high-end jewelry store in the City Center Bishop Ranch mall in San Ramon, California. Using crowbars and hammers, they smashed display cases, stole an estimated $1 million worth of jewelry, and vanished.

The entire incident was captured on security cameras — second by second. At one point, the store’s automatic doors almost managed to trap them, until one of the robbers fired shots at the doors, enabling the group to escape.

The robbers fled at lightning speed in six vehicles, some of which were stolen, directly from the valet area of the mall. Police launched a pursuit but were forced to call it off when the cars reached speeds of over 100 mph (160 km/h).

So far, seven suspects have been arrested, including a 17-year-old minor. The ages of those arrested range up to 31, and all are residents of the Oakland area, approximately 50 kilometers (about 30 miles) from San Ramon. Police were able to recover part of the stolen jewelry and seized two firearms.

Deputy Police Chief Mike Pistello described the incident:

“The moment they entered, they just took over the place and grabbed every piece of jewelry they could find.”

Fine upstanding citizens. They will be released the next day & allowed to roam the streets again like monkeys in the jungle. NYC is next on the list if MADmani is elected.

It’s good they had locking doors that kept them inside but what’s the point of it if they could knock the glass out? How ridiculous! Gotta plan for this kind of stuff.
