WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews) — Stephen Miller, White House Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor, is playing a central role in directing the U.S. military’s ongoing strike campaign against suspected narco-cartel boats off the coast of Venezuela, according to The Guardian.

Miller’s role at times has eclipsed that of Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio, as the White House orchestrates strikes by the U.S. Air Force and Navy on vessels allegedly carrying narcotics for Venezuela-based cartels.
Administration officials have defended the strikes, saying traditional interdiction methods failed to stop cartel trafficking. The operations have been organized through the White House’s Homeland Security Council (HSC), which Miller leads as Homeland Security Advisor.
Under Miller’s direction, the HSC has emerged as an influential policymaking body in President Donald J. Trump’s second term. The shift marks a departure from previous administrations, when the council functioned largely as part of the National Security Council and reported to the National Security Advisor.

Sorry, but as much as I want the flow of narcotics into the U.S. to stop (I even have personal reasons), I must admit that I am a bit ambivalent about this type of interdiction. These might be classic cases of the U.S. acting like the judge, jury and executioner.
