LOS ANGELES — Authorities and family members are urgently searching for Michael Younessian, a 78-year-old man from the Persian Jewish community who vanished after a medical appointment in Westwood, a busy Los Angeles neighborhood home to UCLA. The case is being treated as Pikuach Nefesh — a matter of life and death.

Younessian was last seen around 12:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, near UCLA/Westwood, an area bordered by Beverly Hills, Bel-Air, and Century City. His phone is turned off, and relatives say the disappearance is entirely out of character.

He is 5’7″, weighs 150 lbs, and was wearing a button-up shirt. Younessian has a heart condition and diabetes, raising urgent medical concerns.

Family members have filed a police report and checked local hospitals, but there are still no leads. The Los Angeles Persian Jewish community has mobilized to help with the search.

I’m a 77 yo retired ER RN. I spent my growing-up years very close to Westwood, part of a big Jewish family. Now I live in Central Texas, on 9 acres of my own land in a house surrounded by trees & a few cows & the occasional horse.
But I digress.
I am VERY concerned for Michael Younessian…he is my age & stage of life, although I really have no idea where his mind is. Did he go somewhere & have a stroke or heart attack or be in a bad car wreck or something terrible like that & not know who he is? ER nurses know how to catastrophize very well…
Anyway, maybe Y’all could send me a link to any article that might get posted. Thanks
