Police responded around 3:10 a.m. to the Marcy Avenue–Broadway station in Williamsburg, where officers discovered the teens unconscious on top of a Brooklyn-bound J train. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims were reportedly part of a larger group of teens seen running through the train before the tragedy occurred. Their names have not yet been released.
This marks at least the fifth fatal subway surfing case in New York City this year, a dangerous trend officials say has been amplified by social media videos.
NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow called the deaths “heartbreaking,” stressing that riding outside trains is not a thrill but a deadly risk. The MTA has ramped up public safety campaigns and the NYPD has deployed drones to curb the activity, but incidents continue to rise.

I bet you The parents will sue the MTA!

Democrats will soon be calling to ban “assault” trains.
Am I stupid, or what? I keep hearing about cause of death because of subway surfing? What the hell does that mean? Do they fall to their death , get crushed by low overhang, or people shoot at them? How can surfing be a cause of death. Just like surfing is not a cause of death in the ocean,it’s probably drowning or shark bites.
Yes, they will and they might win. NY law recognizes the “attractive nuisance” doctrine, which allows a person who voluntarily engages in a dangerous activity on another person’s property to collect damages if they are injured. Under this doctrine, if the property owner has a dangerous condition on his land, something that looks like “fun” to certain people, especially children, they could be liable to trespassers who are injured by this condition because they wanted to “try it”. The classic case is when a person has an open pit or a high mountain of dirt on his property and passing children might think it “fun” to jump over the pit or climb the mountain. The law puts the burden on the property owner to safeguard the condition. In this case, the lawsuit would allege that the tops of subway cars are an “attractive nuisance” for children and that the MTA took no steps to ensure that children can’t get up there.
It’sa problem that solves itself. Whoever does it, dies.

I nominate them for a Darwin Award.
stupid kids…
This is a security issue. Stupid people should be stopped before they subway surf. If they’re not stopped, that means that there probably also aren’t enough security staff or cops to stop violent crime either.
What was the cause of Death?
(Please don’t say Stupidity, I mean was it blunt force trauma i.e. they hit their heads on the top of a tunnel or asphyxiation…?
Hey speaking of teenage girls, what’s up with our man Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, he missed his immigration hearing last week.
How stupid were they?
They tried to imitate Bangladesh National Railways
I am sorry to see so many mean spirited comments here. I thought we are a compassionate nation.
