THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA (VINnews)-Drug giant Amgen announced Monday it will start selling its cholesterol medication Repatha directly to U.S. consumers at a steeply discounted cash price — a move that comes amid growing political pressure to bring down drug costs.

The company launched a new website, AmgenNow, where eligible Americans can buy Repatha for $239 a month — about 60% below its current U.S. list price. That’s roughly the same low price Amgen gets in other wealthy nations.
Repatha, an injectable drug that raked in $2.2 billion in sales last year, will now be available to people who are uninsured or prefer to pay cash.
However, insurance coverage won’t be processed through the new direct-sales program.

‘a move that comes amid growing political pressure to bring down drug costs.’ …how about in ‘a move to make even more billions of dollars from misguided sheep taking medications that make them more sick, instead of learning about how to live healthy lives without drugs’.
