NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James entered a not guilty plea Friday to federal charges of bank fraud and false statements, in a case widely seen as part of President Donald Trump’s effort to target political opponents.

The charges, stemming from alleged mortgage fraud, were filed by a Trump-appointed prosecutor. James’s legal team said they plan to contest both the legitimacy of the case and the conduct of those overseeing it.
James is among several prominent figures facing indictments following Trump’s directive to intensify investigations against his critics. Former FBI Director James Comey and former National Security Adviser John Bolton have also pleaded not guilty to separate felony charges.
All three have condemned the prosecutions as politically motivated and an abuse of the justice system.

AP is so sleazy and pathetic. The headline is “…Trump-initiated political prosecution”. If this did indeed originate from the President, then the first part of the quote of that headline would be accurate. But AP’s editorializing in calling it “political prosecution” is so nakedly partisan and non-objective. What losers.
Always remember the corrupt AG ran on going after Trump and his associates, what goes around comes around, you reap what you sow.

What is missing is that James ran saying she was going to charge Trump even before she had started any investigation. Was that not political attack of an opponent? That was before she was in office to even do an investigation. And all she came up was some BS charge. And now she is alleging this is retribution? That is exactly what she had done. And the charge is no more than the charges she leveled against Trump except that Trumps loans had already been repaid by the time she filed charges, while hers were still open.

I just don’t get it. There’s obviously criminality in all of these cases otherwise the justice department never would have brought these charges. Additionally, all 3 cases the justice department empaneled a grand jury and the grand jury handed down the indictments and so while they could be ultimately vindicated in a courtroom, Trump and his justice department has every right and every reason to bring these charges, so not sure what their argument is..
Seems everyone is ignoring the fact that the person who uncovered all these things about the Attorney General of New York was a private citizen, ex-con (one-time convict of financial crime) and current forensic accountant Sam Antar. Trump never sent anyone to investigate her. It was private citizen Sam Antar who presented this evidence to the government on a silver platter. So what jsutification can the government have to not pursue an open-and-shut case?
