BAKU – The 33rd Conference of European Rabbis (CER), set to take place in early November in Baku, Azerbaijan, has been postponed due to security concerns. Organizers cited threatening social media posts from Azerbaijanis living in Turkey and Iran as a factor in the decision.

Following a specific security alert, CER consulted with local authorities and decided to move the event to a different date and location. The conference had been expected to host Israeli Chief Rabbis Rabbi David Yosef and Rabbi Kalman Ber, as well as Ministers Amichai Chikli and Amichay Eliyahu.
CER issued a statement expressing regret for the postponement, thanking the Azerbaijani government for its ongoing support of European Jewish communities, and promising to provide participants with updated plans in the coming days.
