Alexander, 21, who immigrated from the United States to serve in the Golani Brigade, expressed his desire to resume active duty following his release.

During a military conference, Personnel Directorate chief Maj. Gen. Dado Bar Kalifa awarded Alexander the new rank.

Alexander was abducted from an army post near the border community of Nirim on Oct. 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led terrorists stormed southern Israel.
