NEW YORK – Twin brothers from Long Island have filed a federal lawsuit against Columbia University, alleging that the Ivy League school has allowed antisemitism to persist on campus, according to the NY Post.

David and Jonathan Lederer, both 23 and seniors at Columbia, claim they have been harassed and targeted with slurs such as “kike,” “Zionist pig,” and “baby killer” by protesters on campus. They also allege being doxxed and followed by masked mobs shouting antisemitic threats.
The lawsuit details a December 2024 incident in which Jonathan was punched at a rally near campus by activist Tarek Bazrouk, who was later arrested and convicted of a hate crime. Authorities reportedly found antisemitic messages and weapons in Bazrouk’s possession, along with links to a Hamas-affiliated group chat.
The brothers also accuse faculty members, including Professor Mahmood Mamdani, of blocking Jewish students from university areas during protests without facing any consequences. Jonathan said, “Structural antisemitism is still there. The same culture exists.”
Following repeated threats, the Lederers temporarily left campus in 2024 after warnings from Rabbi Elie Buechler that the university was no longer safe for Jewish students.
The twins hope their lawsuit will lead to systemic changes at Columbia. “We are seeking accountability,” David said. “Jewish students shouldn’t have to endure this kind of hostility, and there should be consequences when antisemitism is allowed to flourish.”
Columbia University has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.

A jew doesn’t belong in college. Oct 7 taught us this. Obviously what we need to obtain a job we do. But its acedmia and campus is not a place for a jew to mingle with anymore than he has to. If one can avoid these colleges. do so too. For example, say you are going for accounting, you have zero to gain by attending these colleges. The PCS charedi graduates get the same PWC jobs you get. And there are tons of very good jobs within our own community thanks to the proliferation of so many jewish billionaires lately. Obviously law is different as well as other careers. But every jew frum or not must realize the IVY league colleges are a cesspool. They hate us and their acedima is nonsense and biased. I don’t just say this from a charedi viewpoint, I say this for all jews, modern orthdox or even secular with some appreciation for judaism. Colleges are only if its a must to hel you career otherwise stay away from their cesspools. Oct 7 was just an eye opener but this is what colleges are, P.S.
