NEW YORK – Brooklyn Councilwoman Inna Vernikov continued to ridicule New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday, after Mamdani — who ran on a platform that included a promise to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“The U.S. is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, and the mayor of New York City has no legal authority to arrest the sitting Prime Minister of Israel. In fact, it would be illegal,” Vernikov wrote on X. “@ZohranKMamdani either knew that and blatantly lied for clickbait & votes, or he’s too incompetent to run a simple Google search.”
Vernikov, a vocal pro-Israel lawmaker, has used her social media platforms in recent days to mock Mamdani’s campaign rhetoric, calling his comments “ignorant” and “embarrassing for New York.”
