Israel Opposes US Plan To Start Rebuilding Gaza Before Disarmament: ‘Endangers Israel’

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In recent days, a significant issue has emerged between Israel and the U.S. administration regarding the implementation of Phase B of the “Trump Plan” for regulating the Gaza Strip, according to a Channel 13 report

According to officials familiar with the discussions, the United States is struggling to assemble an international force willing to enter Gaza and carry out the disarmament mission, a critical phase on which the original plan is based.

Because of this difficulty, Washington is considering skipping the disarmament phase and moving directly to the stage of rebuilding “New Gaza,” the area marked in the plan within the “yellow line” which is designated to be the first reconstruction zone.

However, Jerusalem strongly opposes this. A senior Israeli security official said: “There is no reconstruction before disarmament. This contradicts the Trump Plan, contradicts security logic, and is dangerous for Israel. Gaza must be disarmed before entering the reconstruction stage.”

He added:“The Americans are unable to form a foreign force, and therefore they are trying to pursue interim solutions that Israel cannot accept.”

Another senior Israeli official commented on the situation on the ground, saying:“This intermediate situation is the worst. Hamas has significantly strengthened over the past weeks since the end of the war.”

According to intelligence obtained by Israel’s defense establishment, Hamas has begun setting up checkpoints, collecting taxes from trucks, and restoring municipal and economic activity. At the same time, the organization is rebuilding its military infrastructure and also strengthening its intelligence capabilities.

Defense officials warn that the delay in forming an international force, together with the absence of disarmament, allows Hamas to rapidly rebuild and regain control on the ground — precisely the scenario the Trump Plan was designed to prevent.
