NEW YORK – Legal scholars are calling the arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “bogus” in the U.S., following statements by New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani that he would have the premier arrested if he visits the city on Jan. 1.

Joseph Weiler, director of the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law and Justice at NYU School of Law, emphasized that heads of state enjoy “absolute immunity” under international law. He explained that while countries that are parties to the Rome Statute can arrest foreign leaders named in ICC warrants, neither the U.S. nor Israel is a signatory. “The United States has neither the duty nor the right to arrest Netanyahu,” Weiler said.

Marshall Wittmann, AIPAC spokesman, called the ICC’s actions against Israeli officials a “kangaroo court” and noted that the organization supports legislation from Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) that would bar state and local law enforcement from arresting foreign nationals in the U.S. based solely on ICC warrants.

Mamdani’s comments come after an ICC warrant accused Netanyahu of crimes, but experts stress it has no legal standing in the United States.

There is NO SUCH THING AS INTERNATIONAL LAW. Pure made up term. Each nation has it’s own laws and it stops there. Aside from enforcing city zoning bylaws, NYPD is beholden to the Criminal Laws of the State of NY and Federal Constitutional system they’re in. The End.
