GAZA – Newly released video circulating online sheds light on an Israeli intelligence operation inside Gaza that led to the arrest of Dr. Marwan al-Hams, the Hamas-affiliated physician who pronounced IDF officer Hadar Goldin dead during the 2014 conflict.

According to the footage, the operation took place in July, when al-Hams was enticed into participating in what he believed was an international film project profiling his medical work. The supposed documentary, titled “Hero of Gaza,” was used as the cover story to bring him out into the open.

The video includes clips of al-Hams speaking with a French-speaking woman identified only as “Charlotte,” who communicated with him over WhatsApp under a group labeled “Belgian Consultations.” Their exchanges appear friendly and personal, with al-Hams writing at one point that she felt “more Palestinian than the Palestinians.” He even suggested she visit Gaza and join him for an outing at the beach.

Intercut with the staged interviews are images purportedly showing al-Hams involved in Hamas activities — including carrying a rocket and treating wounded militants.

The final moments of the footage depict Israeli forces seizing al-Hams and escorting him into a tunnel believed to be connected to the location where Goldin’s remains were held.

Following his capture, al-Hams was transferred to Israel. Despite interrogations — and even the brief detention of his daughter, Tasneem — officials say he refused to provide any information about the whereabouts of Goldin’s body.

Al-Hams served as a Hamas-appointed physician during the August 2014 battle in Rafah, during which Goldin, a 23-year-old Givati Brigade officer, was killed and taken into Gaza shortly after a ceasefire began. Goldin’s remains were held for more than a decade before being returned to Israel earlier this month.
