NEW YORK – Two National Guard members were ambushed steps from the White House. Washington is on edge, the country is shaken, and two young Americans are fighting for their lives in critical condition.

And New York’s mayor-elect?

Missing.

Not a word.
Not a sentence.
Not even the bare minimum of decency — a public acknowledgment that American service members were shot in broad daylight.

This isn’t a policy dispute. This isn’t a budget fight. This is a violent attack on U.S. troops in the nation’s capital. Leaders with even a basic sense of responsibility instinctively step forward, condemn the violence, and stand with the country.

But Mamdani stayed silent.

For someone who never hesitates to tweet about global causes, foreign conflicts, and niche ideological crusades, his silence today was loud. Deafening, actually. A real leader doesn’t hide when American soldiers are targeted. A real leader doesn’t go mute when uniformed men and women are attacked on U.S. soil.

New Yorkers deserve a mayor who shows up when the country is hurting — not one who retreats into ideological comfort when the facts don’t fit his narrative.

If this is the leadership style he plans to bring to City Hall — selective outrage, moral inconsistency, and silence when it inconveniently involves American service members — we’re in for a very long four years.

Mamdani didn’t have to deliver a speech.
He didn’t have to hold a press conference.
He just had to show basic humanity.

He couldn’t even manage that. One has to wonder if he’s really aligned with American values at all.
