NEW YORK — The Satmar Rebbe, Rabbi Aron Teitelbaum, arrived at JFK Airport on Thursday night, where Port Authority officers were assigned to welcome him upon landing.

During the brief reception, one officer introduced himself as Officer Yanky Schmeltzer and told the Rebbe that his grandfather is from New Square. Speaking to him in the Rebbe’s native Yiddish, Schmeltzer shared the family connection, prompting the Rebbe to note that he knew the officer’s uncle — a personal and warm moment amid the formal greeting.

The Rebbe’s arrival, following a series of major community events abroad, drew interest from local Hasidic circles, some of whom gathered at the airport to observe the welcome.

It was very nice that the Port Authority Police were at JFK to protect and welcome Rabbi Teitelbaum. I remember, in June, 1965, when Rabbi Teitelbaum’s Father (z’l), left for a visit to Eretz Yisrael by ship, from a pier on the West side of Manhattan. There were hundreds of his followers who came to see him off. The event was shown on the local tv news, and was also appeared in the NY Daily News. In fact, at work the next day, a colleague of mine told me that he also saw the large crowd on television, who were there to see their spiritual leader.

Good now I hope the reba uses his kocahes to stop his chasdim from going off so they can be better than this list jew. Kiryuv starts beforehand. That means not just people going off. Whats the reba doing about the tuna baigels in his midist? What about the ones who are all frum but have no feeling, no ruv or any connection to anyone? What about the weaker mesifta buchrim whop are good kids just not quite up to conforming to all rules? Is there a school for them? Can they play ball and let a little loose but still feel part? Are there “gimmel mesifta”? Ps to the do holders don’t try to flag me as I’ll just repost right after you are done. Stop being wasting your time. This is a vital issue. Don’t bury it

Where is his wife? or doesn’t satmar rebbe travel with a wife? or does st. mary practice celibacy like the catholic church to avoid defiling themselves to a woman?
