NEW YORK – The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau has begun interviewing Manhattan North commanders as part of an investigation into how police handled a pro-Palestinian protest outside Park East Synagogue last week, according to the New York Daily News. The demonstration, which targeted an Israel immigration-recruitment event hosted by Nefesh B’Nefesh, drew sharp criticism after video showed protesters confronting attendees near the synagogue on Manhattan’s East Side.

IAB investigators from Group 1 — which handles cases involving senior officers — have questioned Chief of Manhattan North Ruel Stephenson and other high-ranking officials about the response, the report said. The inquiry comes amid complaints from Jewish leaders and elected officials who argued that the NYPD failed to adequately protect the synagogue and allowed demonstrators to get too close to the building.
The department has not released further comment on the ongoing investigation.

The NYPD 19th Precinct is just yards away.
The synagogue was under siege as were the attendees. Mamdani said it was appropriate.
This “investigation” will be swept under the rug. This matter will be handled in the same manner that the NYPD handled the riots and disorders in 1991, in Crown Heights. At that time, the cops did nothing for three days and three nights, while Jews were being attacked, and property was being destroyed. Then, it was revealed that the cops had printed orders on how to handle large scale civil disorders, such as riots. However, those orders were ignored then, they were ignored in 2020, when rioters were smashing the windows of Macy’s and stores on 5th Avenue, and now. The only time cops come down hard on demonstrators, is when Jews are involved, as when the JDL used to demonstrate, in the 1960’s and 1970’s, or the demonstrators in Boro Park in 2006, when Jews were protesting the rough manner that the cops from the 66th Precinct, handled Mr. Schick. He was the owner of Schick’s Bakery in Boro Park, when they arrested him, for not being subservient enough to them, following a disagreement that he had with them, when he didn’t move his car fast enough, on a one way street, which was blocking them. In summary, the internal affairs investigation in this instance, is a waste of taxpayers money, as the cops are afraid to do anything, when it comes to pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
