In the village of Zawata, near Nablus, troops razed the family home of Abed al-Karim Snober, who is accused of orchestrating a failed bus bombing attack in central Israel in February. Snober was arrested in July.
The February 20 attack saw three empty buses explode in rapid succession in parking lots in the Tel Aviv suburbs of Bat Yam and Holon. Two additional unexploded devices were later found on buses in Holon. No one was injured.
Israel’s policy of demolishing the homes of Palestinians accused of deadly terror attacks is long-standing, but the demolition of Snober’s residence is unusual because the incident caused no casualties.
An IDF spokesperson said the demolition “was carried out for deterrence reasons related to the exceptional nature of the attack, with the support of legal authorities.” The High Court of Justice rejected a petition against the order.
Separately, in the village of Aqabah, forces demolished the home of Ayman Ghanem, a member of a Hamas cell that carried out a deadly shooting attack in the Jordan Valley on August 11, 2024.
The attack at Mehola Junction on Route 90 killed Yonatan Deutsch, 23, and wounded Anas Jaramana, 32. Ghanem was arrested in December 2024.
The IDF said both demolitions were conducted in accordance with standard procedure following legal approval.
