NEW YORK — NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch apologized to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani after her brother sparked outrage at a Jewish charity event by calling Mamdani an “enemy of the Jewish people,” the New York Post reports.

The apology came after Benjamin Tisch, a senior executive at Loews Corporation, made the remark while presenting an award at the Met Council’s annual holiday dinner Wednesday night. The gala, held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, drew major political and philanthropic figures from across the city.
According to attendees, Tisch sharply criticized the direction of the city following Mamdani’s election, pointing to the mayor-elect’s outspoken criticism of Israel and previous statements regarding potential legal action against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the Gaza war.
His comments echoed remarks made two days earlier by Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan, who also warned that Mamdani’s rhetoric was contributing to rising antisemitism.
The Tisch family — except for the police commissioner — spent millions supporting Andrew Cuomo’s bid to stop Mamdani in the mayoral race.
Commissioner Tisch said she understands the fear felt within the Jewish community but believes Mamdani will govern for all New Yorkers. She contacted the mayor-elect to express regret for her brother’s comments, and Mamdani confirmed Thursday that he accepted her apology.
Benjamin Tisch and Mamdani’s campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

. We dare not be the JEWS OF 1930. Wake up. Mamdani is a young Hitler who hates Jews and ISRAEL. We need an organization which will fight physically if need me to protect fellow JEWS. Most of the world is antisemitic and anti-Israel. We need to stop worrying about what other countries think and influence our politically leadership to pass laws protecting us and our children. Our college students are brainwashed by paid off radical Muslim professors. Stop sending your children to schools that are known as being antisemitic and pick schools that are Jew friendly. Worrying about what others think of us will get us nowhere. RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG
Why does she have to apologize for something her brother said?
he only said the real TRUTH
i dont understand how she can apologize for something she DID NOT say
We need Tisch in to counter Mandami. Sometimes this is what needs to be done
Mamzarani is an enamy of the Jewish people he clearly supports a global intefada
The truth hurts. Too bad!
She’s being misled by a good looking, charming, malignant narcissist. It can happen to anyone.
NO APOLOGIES!! She’s a disgrace saying sorry to. this, Mr. Hamas
First of all what he espouses is hatred of Jews and Israel. At least he is open about it.
Don’t worry he will never attend a UJA convention
AALIYAH. IS THE ANSWER
Why would she apologize for something her brother said? Does she subscribe to the view held by so many Jew haters that any Jew is to blame for the wrongs of other Jews? (Not that I think her brother was wrong.) Why couldn’t she tell the Mayor elect that this is evidence of the foolishness of his past actions and statements and of the amount of work he must do to make amends?
To keep her job,
She’ll sell her soul….
