WASHINGTON — Political activist Laura Loomer urged Jews to carry firearms while attending public Chanukah celebrations following the deadly antisemitic attack at a Chanukah event in Sydney.

In a post published Sunday on X, Loomer wrote that Jews celebrating Chanukah or going out in public should “bring your gun” and use lethal force if a terrorist attempts to disrupt a celebration.
“If you’re celebrating Hanukkah tonight or you’re Jewish and going out in public tonight, bring your gun and shoot to kill if a terrorist tries to disrupt your celebration by killing you and your friends and family,” Loomer wrote. She added that Jews should not “let yourself become a victim of our faulty immigration policies.”

The comments came hours after gunmen opened fire at a Chabad-hosted Chanukah event at Bondi Beach in Sydney, killing at least 11 people and injuring dozens more, including children. Authorities have described the shooting as an antisemitic terror attack and said the investigation remains ongoing.
Loomer, a frequent commentator on immigration and national security issues, has previously made calls for armed self-defense in response to terror threats. As of Sunday, the post remained publicly visible.
Jewish communities worldwide have heightened security around Chanukah events following the attack, with many organizations urging close coordination with local law enforcement as public celebrations continue.
