VINnews Editorial: After Bondi Terror, Albanese Must Go

NEW YORK (VINnews Editorial) – Anthony Albanese did not pull the trigger at Bondi Beach.

But his leadership created the conditions in which this terror attack became inevitable.

That is why he must resign.

Bondi was not the first warning. It was the last.

In the months leading up to Chanukah, Australia saw a sharp and visible rise in antisemitic incidents — threats, intimidation, vandalism, harassment, and open glorification of terror against Jews. Jewish schools increased security. Synagogues hardened their entrances. Community leaders quietly warned that it was only a matter of time before words turned into bloodshed.

    Those warnings were ignored.

Instead of confronting antisemitism as a national emergency, Albanese’s government downplayed it as “community tension.” Instead of drawing bright moral lines, it blurred them. Instead of standing unequivocally with Jews under threat, it chose diplomatic hedging and rhetorical balance.

    This pattern matters.

Antisemitic violence does not erupt spontaneously. It escalates. It tests boundaries. It looks for permission — and silence is permission.

At the international level, Albanese’s government repeatedly signaled moral ambiguity at precisely the moment clarity was required. Votes and statements that distanced Australia from Israel were interpreted — correctly or not — as a weakening of resolve against antisemitic extremism at home.

Rabbi Eli Schlanger understood this danger. He warned the prime minister publicly. He implored him not to betray the Jewish people — and not to betray Hashem. His warning was not abstract. It was urgent.

    Albanese did nothing.

    Then came Bondi.

A public Chanukah celebration. Families. Children. A Chabad rabbi. Murdered at an openly Jewish event that required no intelligence briefing to recognize as a target.

Leadership is not measured by how somber one looks at a press conference. It is measured by whether preventable violence is prevented.

    Albanese failed to act when:

    Antisemitic incidents were clearly escalating

Jewish communities were pleading for intervention

Public Jewish life was becoming increasingly dangerous

Leaders were warned — explicitly — of the consequences

After Bondi, condolences are meaningless. Condemnations are empty. Promises made over fresh graves are an insult to the dead.

This was not a failure of policing alone. It was a failure of moral leadership — a refusal to understand that antisemitism, once normalized, always turns lethal.

History has seen this pattern before. Leaders who mistook restraint for virtue and silence for diplomacy were remembered not for their intentions, but for their consequences.

    Australia deserves better.

Anthony Albanese failed his Jewish citizens when it mattered most.

For that failure, he should resign.

The west has been invaded and their leadership not only did nothing about it but enabled and assisted this invasion. Words of condolence from the likes of Albanese, Starmer and King Charles, aren’t just meaningless, they are slap in the face. History will judge them for the evil they perpetrated against their own people.

I feel like the few who warned the STATE DEPARTMENT about the concentration camps and mass murder and no listened. Not enough is being done by our president who I supported and the Jewish leadership. Marches alone accomplish very little. Learn how to fight back physically, make certain there are armed guards at large Jewish events. This antisemitism and antizionism is world wide. RABBI DR. BERNHARD ROSENBERG

    He should definitely GO!!!
But REMEMBER, this is all from Hashem and so just shooting the messenger won’t help you.
Everyone should take their own message but the main thing is that we should become closer to him!!!!

It’s amazing for us to continue fighting sticks instead of acknowledging The Stick Wielder.

Here’s a simple, and stupendous, fact.

The Jewish People are human carriers of an ancient living Meme With a Mission:

To demonstrate ways of living that will inspire humankind to attain goodness not seen since the birth of civilization.

This manner of feeling and living is codified in 3 biblical words: ואהבת לרעך כמוך – Love your fellow as yourself.

In such a world worry and sadness would not exist. For in such a world nobody would be left alone to fend for themselves. We will all happily care for each other.

Joy, happiness, and pleasure are the means and the goals, but there’s an accounting mechanism built into Judaism: Antisemitism.

The distinctiveness demanded of, and forced upon, Jews ensures that so long as my tribe fails to achieve the goal given our ancestors thousands upon thousands of years ago, we will never be free from the consequences of living in a world that we have failed to enlighten.

The biblical prophets said, sang, shouted and screeched this at us over and over again.

In a world of Truth and Shalom (peace born of joyful love) not only will antisemitism vanish from the Earth, but philosemitism will be the international sentiment.

This is a prophetic promise, and no kind of religious belief is required to take it seriously. The Bible’s predictive track record concerning the Jews speaks for itself.

In a world of falsehood and sitna (the opposite of Shalom) however, the Jews will forever remain ready targets for the ire of a disappointed world.

This has been the well documented case for thousands upon thousands of years and it remains the case on this very day.

    And you know it.

The “reasons” provided by the generational Jew-killers who explode against the Children of Israel every 70 years or so are always too inaccurate – and even downright stupid – to disprove.

The facts are never on the side of antisemites’ claims, but their lack of logical eloquence is hardly the matter to consider.

Rabid dogs can not explain why they bite, and granted speech, attempting to argue them out of their canine attempts to explain themselves would prove our madness more than theirs.

The simple fact is that so long as masses of people are unhappy, antisemitism will exist.

Judaism is literally built to ensure that.

    Is it fair?

It doesn’t seem fair to me, but I didn’t make the rules. These are ancient rules, written down and passed along unchanged for hundreds of generations, and their predictive powers are so unlike those of any other ancient document that even people (like myself) who balk at the word, have no choice but to hang their authorship upon the word we use to speak of the ineffably inexplicable – God.

HONEST QUESTION: What is the core Jewish belief / Halacha on the collective punishment of an entire people, based on an act of terror committed by 2 terrorists? Just asking. An Australian Muslim disarmed one of the terrorists and likely saved dozens of Jewish lives. Jerusalem Post already nominating him as a “Righteous Gentile”.

We only know how to deal with symptoms. Endless terrorism and War so we just keep fighting but we don’t ask why does Hashem who loves us keep sending them to antagonize us? Nobody wants to answer those hard truths. But there’s no one who actually believes Hashem tortures people just for fun or out of boredom, so it’s time to start thinking what are we doing that’s causing so much Divine anger. I could easily list a bunch of things but what will it help when everyone just gets angry at you for saying them, maybe be angry that we don’t behave

. We dare not be the JEWS OF 1930. Wake up. Mamdani is a young Hitler who hates Jews and ISRAEL. We need an organization which will fight physically if need me to protect fellow JEWS. Most of the world is antisemitic and anti-Israel. We need to stop worrying about what other countries think and influence our politically leadership to pass laws protecting us and our children. Our college students are brainwashed by paid off radical Muslim professors. Stop sending your children to schools that are known as being antisemitic and pick schools that are Jew friendly. Worrying about what others think of us will get us nowhere

While I agree in general with Vin’s editorial, Albanese is not the only person to be blamed for this massacre. This event was advertised well in advance. Since that was the case, it was incumbent upon the organizers of the event to have a lot of security, well in advance. There were 1,000 or more people attending that event, and last year, there was an attack on Chanukah in Australia. One would have thought that the area would have been swept well in advance, to check for snipers, and other psychos. Certainly, if an important world leader was coming through that area, that would have been the case. Public events, especially outdoor ones, must have sufficient security. The USA learned that lesson well in 2017, at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas. The security at that event, and the adjacent hotel, was very lax. As a result, a sniper fired hundreds of round from his hotel window, and killed seventy seven concert goers. The latter event, was the largest mass murder event, by a single sniper, in the history of the USA.
