NEW YORK (VINnews)— Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said he has witnessed a sharp increase in antisemitism over the past couple of years, declaring that in the current climate, “no matter what it is, it’s the Jews’ fault.”

Portnoy, who is Jewish, made the comments during a Dec. 14 appearance on Fox News, reacting to a shooting attack targeting Jews celebrating Hanukkah at Australia’s Bondi Beach that left at least 15 people dead.
“If Jews — anti-Semitic attacks, whatever, Jews deserved it. If Jews retaliate, it’s the Jews’ fault,” Portnoy said. “No matter what it is, it’s the Jews’ fault. So that is the world we live in right now.”
He added that he has personally been a victim of antisemitic incidents and noted the lack of pushback against open displays of hatred.
“I’ve seen it increase over the last couple of years,” Portnoy said.
Portnoy has spoken out repeatedly about antisemitism in recent months, including after several direct confrontations. In November, he faced antisemitic slurs during pizza reviews in Mississippi and earlier in Canada. He has also condemned incidents at Barstool-affiliated venues and criticized what he sees as normalization of anti-Jewish sentiment on campuses and in politics.
The world is just reverting back to its natural state. We had a partial 70-80 year reprieve after WWII, but now we’re just back to the way it’s always been. The fact that the world has become more “civilized” and “enlightened” only applies to other minorities, not to the Jews. It is a deep spiritual issue, not a logical one.
And how does that help ?

If we Jews have a major fault it is flattery of the wealthy. As Tevye would say today, “It’s no shame to be rich but it’s no great honor either.”
Dave Portnoy, Sasha Baron Cohen, and others (whom I’m nearly as confident about but won’t name lest my ignorance regarding them be more substantial than it seems to me) are not our heroes or champions. We bow before no man and we reserve our respect for greater fellows than those.
