WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)— Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro delivered a sharp critique of Tucker Carlson during a speech at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday, accusing the former Fox News host of undermining core conservative principles and warning that the movement needs “ideological border control” to protect its foundations.

Speaking at an event promoting his new book, “Lions & Scavengers: The True Story of America,” Shapiro argued that Carlson has strayed from traditional conservatism on issues including free markets, limited government, national defense and traditional values.

“A conservatism that treats Tucker Carlson as a thought leader is no conservatism,” Shapiro said. “If conservatives do not stand up and draw lines, conservatism and the dream of America itself will cease to exist.”

Shapiro, a prominent Jewish voice in conservative media, pointed to Carlson’s criticism of free enterprise, including opposition to self-driving trucks, high-interest credit cards and corporate mergers leading to layoffs. He noted Carlson’s praise for left-leaning figures such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

On limited government, Shapiro accused Carlson of promoting conspiracy theories about elite control and favoring feudalism over constitutional principles.

Regarding national defense, Shapiro criticized Carlson for sympathizing with regimes like Russia under Vladimir Putin, China, Iran and Venezuela, while downplaying threats from adversaries and treating Qatar favorably despite its ties to terrorist groups.

Shapiro also highlighted Carlson’s platforming of controversial figures, including conspiracists like Alex Jones, as evidence of abandoning traditional American values.

The speech came amid ongoing tensions at the Heritage Foundation, following its president Kevin Roberts’ earlier defense of Carlson after the podcaster interviewed white nationalist Nick Fuentes. Roberts did not address Carlson or antisemitism during the event but praised Shapiro as a “patriot” and “man of faith.”

Heritage’s mission, Shapiro emphasized, centers on promoting policies based on free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional values and strong defense — principles he said Carlson opposes.

Shapiro concluded by urging the conservative movement to enforce boundaries, stating, “The conservative movement requires a border.”

Trump made possible the concept of a “conservative” without an actual conservative ideology. Idiots like the contemporary Qatarlson, Candidiasis Owens and Marjorie Trailerpark Greene would have never been considered conservative before Trump went into politics.
While Trump 1 was somewhat of a therapeutic force by breaking the monopoly of the political and media establishment, Trump 2 is just a senseless “personal loyalty” storm that brought up all kinds of stinky carcasses to the seashore.
All the fools who were talking about “personal loyalty” and some unquantifiable “charisma” in the primaries of 2024 are the ones who enabled the dumbazz trailer-park element to grab power within the conservative movement.
