ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is facing renewed criticism from Republican lawmakers after a widely circulated online video raised questions about alleged fraud involving state-funded programs tied to organizations within the Somali immigrant community.

The video, posted by independent journalist Nick Shirley, shows visits to several childcare facilities in Minneapolis that appeared largely inactive despite receiving millions of dollars in public funding. One center featured in the footage was described as having little visible activity and signage containing spelling errors. The video quickly gained tens of millions of views across social media platforms.

Republican officials said the footage underscores broader concerns about oversight failures in Minnesota, where state and federal investigators have been probing alleged fraud schemes involving public assistance programs. Critics argue state agencies failed to adequately monitor grants and reimbursements, allowing suspected misuse of funds to continue for years.

State and federal authorities have said dozens of people have been charged in connection with various fraud investigations involving pandemic relief, childcare subsidies and other aid programs. Prosecutors have alleged that large sums intended for vulnerable populations were diverted through false claims and shell organizations. Officials have not accused the childcare center highlighted in the video of criminal wrongdoing.

Walz’s office has not directly addressed the video but has previously said his administration supports investigations and has taken steps to strengthen oversight and accountability. State officials have emphasized that fraud cases are being handled by law enforcement and the courts.

The controversy has fueled calls from Republican lawmakers for legislative hearings and additional scrutiny of how Minnesota administers public aid, while Democratic leaders have cautioned against drawing conclusions before investigations are completed.

Not only will nothing happen. Governor Walz will get re-elected. Years ago, such a case, the elected official would resign in shame. Today, he’s considered a victim. Whatever happened to James Comey and Leticia James?

Let’s not forget ilhan Omar who went from broke to mega millionaire in her few years in office in that same state where she passed laws to make fraud easier to perpetrate.
Hope she goes down hard and gets deported.
