According to a report by Iran International, the sources, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said that these activities have accelerated in recent months and are continuing against the backdrop of rising regional tensions and Tehran’s concerns over the possibility of another direct confrontation with Israel and the United States.

The same sources stated that these plans are being carried out largely under the supervision of the IRGC Aerospace Force and include the optimization of ballistic missiles to carry chemical and biological materials, as well as the upgrading of accompanying command-and-control systems.

According to one of the sources, the Revolutionary Guards are anticipating scenarios of large-scale conflict, and in preparation are building capabilities which, in the view of decision-makers in the Islamic Republic, would serve as an “additional deterrent factor” alongside Iran’s conventional missile program.

“The Iranian leadership views potential Israeli and American attacks as a threat to its very existence and intends, in the event of a conflict, to significantly raise the cost for the opposing side,” one of the sources explained.
