A source familiar with the details explained that the testing of the seized substance has not yet been completed due to New Year’s celebrations, during which forensic laboratory staff of the local police were on vacation.
The two women were arrested at the end of December at Prague Airport, after a search of their suitcases revealed 96 kilograms of khat — 48 kilograms in each suitcase.
While khat is legal in Israel when used in its raw form, in Europe it is classified as a dangerous drug, and authorities in the Czech Republic enforce strict measures against its smuggling.
The young women now face two possible outcomes: Indictment and trial, which could result in a prison sentence, or deportation from the country with a “black stamp”, which would bar them from entering the Czech Republic and European Union countries for an extended period.

Tired of hearing about these misinformed naive young frummies not knowing what they are carrying. They know and are probably receiving compensation as well as a vacation
The only way to stop this once and for all is to cut off the heads of the snakes – jail the lowlifes who send these young adults hungry for money. Even if legal in Israel, it should be illegal to export to other countries.
The Israelis should stop these jerks on their way out of Israel! While its not illegal in Israel, its causes dreadfully negative PR. And then there’s the sobfest of the families claiming ignorance and naivete. And of course the expense of nebach pidyon shvuyim. All thus could be easily prevented.
And is anyone asking exactly why and how they came to be carrying such a large amount of an illegal substance?
This has happened too often. Parents should warn their children about doing this and so should the schools.
Israel should go after the ones who entice stupid young people into snuggling illegal substances.
If these girls will end up serving time in a Czech prison it will not enhance their shiduch resume.
Lock them up. It should be used as a cautionary tale for educational purposes. That’s the only way people will ever learn.
What is this substance? What does it do or its purpose?
If you can’t do the time don’t do the crime. Fools!
Legalize khat. It’s somewhere between tobacco and coffee on the drug hardness scale. No reason to treat it this way.
To shmendrick : We used to be : nearly always on the same page : like friends .
Due to some issues : I was not able to much on Internet ( not religious issues :
rather practical issues ).It’s a pity .
I wish : some Macher will do his best in freeing them .
After all : it’s NOT crime issue .
Some countries even allow it לכתחילה.
