LOS ANGELES — A prominent Los Angeles real estate investor has given Chabad a major boost, donating a 300,000-square-foot office complex near Fox Studios that will be transformed into a hub for Jewish life and community services.

Alon Abady and his wife, Monique, made the gift in honor of his mother, crediting Chabad with helping their family find its footing after immigrating to the United States decades ago. The 16-story property at 9911 West Pico Boulevard includes extensive parking and sits in a prime corridor between Beverly Hills and Culver City.
Abady purchased the building from Blackstone in 2023 for $35 million. Though the site holds development rights that could allow for future residential use, the immediate plan is to convert it into a multi-purpose campus featuring a synagogue, classrooms, counseling and social services, and event facilities.

Abady, who leads Waterfall Bridge Capital, said the donation reflects a personal sense of gratitude as well as a desire to strengthen Jewish communal life in the region.
Chabad officials said the property will become one of their largest West Coast centers, expanding their ability to serve families, students and visitors across greater Los Angeles.
“This is a lifelong dream that also allows me to honor my parents and my children. When my family immigrated to Los Angeles in the 1970s, Chabad was there for us. That was never forgotten.”

Beautiful.
Use it out to give Hashem nachas and fulfil his tafkid of creation.
What a wonderful and meaning donation. May this new center bring brilliant light to Los Angeles and Brachas to the Abady family for all this will do to strengthen Yiddishkeit in California.
nice,
Chabad helps everyone.
Everyone talks about Chabad’s contributions to the non-frum Jews, but not enough of us praise Chabad for what it does for the frum community
As an out-of -town bochour at a high school where I lived hundreds of miles away from home, Chabad supplied me , and my friends, with tens of thousands of dollars worth of kosher food, 2 skiing trips, free SAT lessons, a place to break away on Sunday afternoons to watch the game with kosher snacks, shabbatones, letters of recommendation to colleges and Israeli yeshivos, and of course, ruach.
Thank you, Chabad, for your contributions to the yeshivishe world.

This thread and the virulent, hateful, angry statements has no place on a frum site. I do not understand how Jews can be so bitter towards fellow Jews. Just awful. What are they teaching in frum yeshivos?
Pshhhh!!
Looks like the VIN censors were at work again but I’ll respond to D d. What I wrote is what that Chabad Rabbi told me and he said that it was Zalman Shazar. It’s possible he had some details wrong, but that’s not my problem. Lubavichers have turned the Rebbe into a deity and so they look for proof that he has supernatural abilities. And yes they believe that Hashem anointed the Rebbe in that dream. Do they all believe that? Look, there’s no uniformity in Chabad beliefs since they can’t even agree whether or not he’s still alive.
B”R — Not B”H = More goyim areingemisht mit Yiden!
They must a hang a giant banner showing their late Rebbuh, King Messiah of the Habad Lubavitch faith, from the side of the building, ASAP.
What in the world can they do with 300000 sqft? Seems over the top considering all the Jewish life in the area already. Better to be in Jewish hands I guess.
