The video, posted by social media influencer Tyler Oliveira, has generated more than 1 million views and is being promoted across multiple platforms. Community members say the content portrays Orthodox Jewish communities in a hostile and inflammatory manner, fueling fears it could attract agitators or inspire harassment.

Residents said Oliveira made no effort to engage with the thousands of Hasidic Jews who work in offices and businesses throughout Kiryas Joel, instead focusing on street encounters that critics described as staged to create confrontation. Advocates said he bypassed easily accessible commercial areas and office complexes where he could have met professionals and business owners.

Community leaders responded by urging residents not to speak with anyone attempting to film, interview or provoke reactions. They also advised institutions to tighten access to synagogues and community facilities and to avoid admitting unknown visitors.

A community leader who spoke to VIN News on the condition of anonymity said leaders are increasing awareness within the community to ensure residents never respond to such encounters. The leader said the goal is to reduce the risk of escalation and prevent footage from being selectively edited or misrepresented.

The leader added that the episode should serve as a warning to other Jewish communities across the tri-state area, advising them not to engage independently with outside media or influencers. Such content, the leader said, is often driven by click-bait incentives that rely on stirring controversy and highlighting perceived flaws using inaccurate or incomplete information.

Community members said Oliveira has indicated plans to visit other Orthodox areas, including Lakewood, prompting calls for residents there to be similarly alerted. Videos linked to the influencer have drawn waves of antisemitic comments online, heightening concerns about harassment and outside provocation.

Local advocates said their immediate focus is on protecting residents, discouraging engagement and preventing tensions from being inflamed by sensationalized portrayals rather than genuine dialogue.

No one should be hostile! Let them “investigate.” The frum community are not CROOKs scamming the government with companies and service that don’t exist!!! We USE the services we request! Unlike the Minnesota community that is legitimately being on edyigated. HUGE difference! So what if many people are on programs?? That’s what they are there for. Don’t be ashamed

I watched the video in my office today and I’ve never been so proud to be a Jew, everyone was polite, smiling happy. And we do need to improve our driving skills.

It is upsetting that the Satmars are obnoxous. There’s no reason for it. The guy that gave him his hand demanded respect and got it. If only all would respond this way. And yes – if he’s upset at the way we do business or do the programs they got – well..
