NEW YORK — Labor union leaders claim that a nurses strike at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City was followed by the deaths of three patients, an assertion hospital officials strongly dispute, according to reporting by the New York Post.

Union representatives said the deaths occurred after temporary replacement nurses were brought in to cover for striking staff. They alleged that the substitute workers lacked familiarity with hospital systems and patient needs, contributing to delays and emergency situations, the Post reported.

Hospital officials rejected the claims, calling them false and irresponsible. Mount Sinai said patient care has remained safe throughout the strike and warned that the allegations could prompt legal action.

The strike, which began earlier in the week, involves thousands of nurses across several major New York City hospital systems. Union leaders say the walkout centers on staffing shortages, wages and working conditions, while hospital administrators maintain that contingency plans are in place to ensure uninterrupted care.

City and state health authorities have not publicly confirmed any link between the strike and patient deaths. The dispute remains unresolved as negotiations continue.

The families should sue the unions for causing the deaths.

If you had to work 12 to 14 hour days with no lunch break, but that break is deducted from your pay check anyway, and have to apologize to angry patients who did not get their pillows fluffed you would walk out on strike too.

Sadly, deaths happen every day at the Hospital.
It is astounding that no new source reports on the current salary and pay per hour. The big ask is the Union wants to protect jobs of nurses found on duty to be drunk or under the influence of drugs.
