WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews)-President Donald Trump on Sunday highlighted a nearly four-decade-old letter from the late New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, in which the storied baseball executive encouraged him to seek the presidency and “get the whole damn thing straightened out.”

The handwritten note, dated Feb. 23, 1989, on official Yankees letterhead, praised Trump’s appearance on “The Morton Downey Jr. Show” and read in part: “You tell it like it is… you should run for President some day and get the whole damn thing straightened out!”
Trump posted an image of the letter on Truth Social, calling the moment “epic” and noting the early endorsement from Steinbrenner, who owned the Yankees from 1973 until his death in 2010 and was known for his brash style and championship success.
The correspondence predates Trump’s first presidential campaign by more than 25 years and underscores his long-standing ties to New York sports figures.

They both have been petulant, have love hate relationships with people, firing people and then bringing them back, making stories up and infatuated with media coverage of themselves. Lastly they share the winning above everything mentality.
