WASHINGTON D.C (VINnew)- President Trump accused Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., of becoming a “liberal” due to his recent remarriage, while endorsing a primary challenger against the incumbent congressman in a scathing Truth Social post.

“People are saying that Thomas Massie became a Liberal because his new wife, blessed be their marriage, is supposedly a Radical Left ‘flamethrower,'” Trump wrote. “This new union all went so fast that maybe he didn’t know what he was getting into but, nevertheless, he is an absolutely terrible and unreliable ‘Republican’ — Perhaps a RINO, or maybe even worse!”

Trump continued by praising Ed Gallrein, a farmer, Navy veteran and former candidate for Kentucky state Senate, as a superior alternative. “Ed Gallrein, a Farmer and War Hero, is running against Massie. He is a HIGH QUALITY individual, and there is no Candidate for Congress that could be better,” Trump stated.
The president accused Massie of disloyalty, claiming the congressman “never votes for us, he always goes with the Democrats” and is a “Complete and Total Disaster” who must lose “BIG.”
Massie, who represents Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, remarried Carolyn Grace Moffa in October 2025, about 16 months after the death of his first wife, Rhonda, in June 2024. Moffa, a former policy staffer for Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., was described by Massie as politically savvy and supportive of his work. The couple held a ceremony in Pennsylvania, her home state.
Trump’s remarks, which appeared to question the speed of Massie’s remarriage and suggest his new wife influenced his politics, drew criticism from some conservatives who called the personal attack inappropriate, especially given Massie’s bereavement. Massie has described ongoing grief over his first wife’s death while noting he and Moffa have taken the comments lightly.
The post escalates an ongoing feud between Trump and Massie, a libertarian-leaning Republican known for bucking party leadership on issues like federal spending and, more recently, efforts to force the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files. Trump has previously labeled Massie ineffective and endorsed Gallrein in the GOP primary for the 2026 election.
Gallrein, who served in the Navy for three decades, entered the race with Trump’s backing, positioning himself as a loyal “America First” alternative. Massie has highlighted strong fundraising and dismissed threats to his seat.
Trump’s Truth Social message aligns with his pattern of targeting GOP critics, framing Massie as unreliable and urging voters to replace him with Gallrein. The primary for Kentucky’s 4th District is set for May 2026.

Like exactly what happened to Howard Stern after he married his current wife. From being a conservative and being a big fan of Trump, to hating hating him, loving Biden/ Harris to being a very outspoken advocate for every restrictive and oppressive covid mandate/executive order put forward by Democrat governors and Mayors everywhere. Garbage Idiot!!
I did not know he remarried recently, but was surprised to find out that he changed to liberal views. For many years I thought massie always votes against Republicans even though he is in that party.
