NEW YORK (VINnews) — The Orthodox Union on Monday launched OHRBIT, an AI-driven app designed to personalize Torah study for users of all ages. The app uses artificial intelligence to tailor lessons to individual interests and skill levels, providing text, audio, and video content, scheduling tools, and gamified features to encourage consistent learning.

Rabbi Simon Taylor, OU national director of community engagement, said the name combines “ohr” (light) and “bit” (technology) to reflect its mission of bringing Torah directly to users. He emphasized that OHRBIT is meant to supplement, not replace, in-person study.
The app draws on OU content and materials from partner organizations including The Rabbi Sacks Legacy Trust and OpenDor Media. It also features safeguards for mental health and safe AI use.
