Earlier, Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that two additional victims at the scene were in critical condition, one person was moderately injured, and 14 sustained light injuries. Other victims are reported trapped under the rubble and rescue workers are trying to extract them.

Three of the victims have been named as Sarah Elimelech, Ronit Elimelech (her daughter) and Oren Katz HYD.

Rescue and security forces continue to operate at the site, conducting further searches and treating the injured. At Hadassah Hospital, preparations are underway for a mass-casualty event.

The IDF Spokesperson clarified after an examination that an early warning alert, as well as a standard alert, had been activated at the scene of the impact in Beit Shemesh.

It was also reported that in the latest barrage, a man in his 50s was moderately injured by shrapnel in a community in central Israel.

MDA emergency medic Yosef Laufer said: “When we arrived, we observed significant destruction at the scene and residents who had been rescued from the building. We provided medical treatment to several casualties, including a 10-year-old girl in critical condition, and several others with varying degrees of injury. MDA teams remain at the scene to continue treating additional victims who have not yet been rescued.”

The incident occurred in the old section of Beit Shemesh, where public shelters are in some places located outside buildings and not under the buildings themselves. The public shelter which was hit served as a synagogue for surrounding buildings.

It’s so hard to absorb! Here in NY, for the most part, we’re so disconnected with the real reality. Our brothers and sisters are really going through very challenging and difficult times. They’re real people. People are frightened and worried! It’s real.

Chaveirim! From the reply messages I’ve received from so many of you it is clear to me that my message seemed to be one of not connected! Absolutely NOT what my כונה was. I also has may family members and in fact my wife is there now: she went for a family Simcha but I couldn’t make the trip. I know only partially what they’re going through! We can NOT fathom the worry, fear and traumatic feelings that people there are going through. The October 7th war and now this one. Mothers are frightened to let their children go off to school or even to Shul or the store and they convey those fears however subliminally rlto the children and they are afraid. We can not understand the real fears that they’re going through.!
